The title of this research is, “Fire Department Relations in a Vertical World: An Investigation into the Forms and Functions of Social Structure in Low-tier Japanese Fire Department Employees.” This research is based on the work of Chie Nakane in Japanese Society (1970), and is so nicknamed, “tate-shakai no shoubou kankei” [タテ社会の消防関係].
